4 players from Australia's WTC 2023 final-winning squad who won't be part of clash against South Africa

Opener Marcus Harris who has scored four centuries form his last five games in the ongoing County Championship did not get a place in the WTC final squad.

Cricket Australia on May 13 announced their 15-member Test squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final against South Africa. Weeks ahead of the WTC 2025 final, there are four players from the WTC-winning Australian side who won't be part of the all-important match -
 

David Warner

Opener David Warner has retired from international cricket. In the final against India, Warner contributed with scores of 43 and 1 in the winning cause at Kennington Oval, London. 
 

Marcus Harris

Marcus Harris was the back-up opener in the previous edition's WTC final. The 32-year-old hasn't played Test cricket since Ashes 2021-22. He wasn't picked in the side despite scoring four centuries from five games for Lancashire in the ongoing County Championship.
 

Michael Neser

Australia's fast-bowling all-rounder Michael Neser did not play in WTC 2023 final either. Neser hasn't played Test cricket since December 2022. Neser was part of the Queensland side that lost to South Australia in Sheffield Shield 2024-25 final.
 

Todd Murphy

Off-spinner Todd Murphy was backup for veteran spinner Nathan Lyon. Murphy was part of Australia's tour of Sri Lanka and picked just one wicket in the previous game. Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has been selected in the current squad ahead of the 24-year-old. 
 

Sam Konstas, Beau Webster

Four Australian players who will play in their maiden WTC final are young opener Sam Konstas, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, fast-bowling all-rounder Beau Webster and veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood. Scott Boland played in place of an injured Hazlewood and claimed five wickets.
