Assam fights back against Bengal

Assam began the day at 98 for three, still 144 runs behind in their second innings. They batted the entire day and finished on 282 for nine. Captain Sumit Ghadigaonkar made a patient 67 from 222 balls, Denish Das scored 73 from 133 deliveries, and Sibsankar Roy added 52 from 144 balls. The trio played important roles in helping Assam avoid defeat.

Das and Ghadigaonkar had walked in when Assam were struggling at 8 for 3 on the third evening. Together, they steadied the innings with a 111-run partnership for the fourth wicket, facing 266 balls between them. After Das was bowled by Ishan Porel, Ghadigaonkar added another 58 runs off a 143-ball stand with Roy for the fifth wicket. Roy continued to play his part, building two more key partnerships that kept Bengal’s bowlers from breaking through.
