Spectators to get full refund for abandoned IND vs SA 4th T20I

Notably, the fourth T20I was called off due to excessive fog and poor visibility. Rajeev Shukla clarified that according to established protocols, a total reimbursement is mandatory since the match was abandoned due to heavy fog without a single ball being bowled. He noted that the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has already initiated the necessary steps to return the money to ticket holders.

Excessive fog played spoilsport in IND vs SA 4th T20I

The match, originally set for December 17, faced repeated delays as thick fog settled over Lucknow. Despite the toss being scheduled for 7:00 PM IST, the conditions never improved enough to satisfy the officials. After six separate inspections of the playing surface and visibility levels, the umpires finally called the game off at 9:25 PM IST. The abandonment leaves India with a 2-1 lead as the series moves to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for the fifth and final clash on December 19.

In addition to the weather delays, the Indian camp has seen changes to its roster. On December 15, the BCCI announced that star all-rounder Axar Patel had been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to illness. To fill the vacancy, the Men's Selection Committee named Shahbaz Ahmed as his replacement for the final two fixtures, including the upcoming series decider in Ahmedabad.

Not just Axar, even vice-captain Shubman Gill has also been reportedly ruled out of the final T20I. Notably, Gill suffered a toe injury during nets session right ahead of the fourth T20I and understandably won't be able to recover in time, hence will end up missing out on the series decider.
