In a surprising turn of events, Bangladesh secured a commanding win over Zimbabwe in the second T20I of the three-game series on Friday, July 17 at the Queens Sports club in Bulawayo. While defending 187 runs, the Bangladeshi bowlers displayed a stunning show to seal the win by 34 runs.

Strong show from Bangladesh batters

Winning the toss, Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza opted to bowl first against the visitors in the second T20I. However, Bangladeshi batters proved Raza's decision wrong as they seemed comfortable with the bat as compared to the first game. The opening duo of Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan got off to a great start as both of them crossed the fifty run mark. Saif scored 55 runs off 45 balls before getting out on Raza's bowling whereas Tanzid got dismissed after scoring 58 runs off 44 deliveries.

Coming to bat at No. 3, Bangladesh skipper Tawhid Hridoy endured an underwhelming outing, as he managed to score only six runs off five balls. Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin tried to give some lower-order finishing touch, as both scored unbeaten knocks of 22 runs off 12 an 31 off 10. Riding on their efforts, Bangladesh managed to reach 186/5 at the end of 20 overs.

Underwhelming run-chase from Zimbabwe

In response, Zimbabwe endured a disastrous start in the big run chase. The opening duo of Brian Bennett (11 off 5) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (4 off 3) could not contribute much with the bat, as both got dismissed on cheap scores. Coming to bat at No.4 skipper Sikandar Raza tried to raise some hopes with his quick fire knock of 28 runs off 12 balls, hitting three boundaries and one six. However, Ryan Burl also tried to contribute with his fiery knock of 29 runs off 19 deliveries at a strike rate of 152.63.

However, all these efforts from Zimbabwe were not enough to clinch the win from Bangladesh's grip, as they were bundled out on 152 runs. For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain emerged as the best bowler, as he finished the game with figures of 4/26 in 3.4 overs.
