Indian veteran all-rounder Kuldeep Yadav issued a clarification over Nitish Kumar Reddy's fitness amid his injury speculations after he bowled just six overs in the second Test match against South Africa at ACA Stadium in Guwahati.

Kuldeep, who was the pick of the bowlers for India with four scalps on a batting-friendly Baraspara track with four scalps said that with six bowlers, someone will bowl fewer overs.

"Nitish Kumar Reddy is fit. His fielding has been great. If you bowl less overs, it is not like you have to fulfill a quota. He bowled well. With six bowlers, someone will bowl less overs" said Kuldeep Yadav while attending media.

After losing the first Test match by 30 runs, Team India again struggled in the second Test match against South Africa as the visitors scored 489 runs in the first innings.

Kuldeep Yadav at Barsapara Stadium

After the end of the day's play, Kuldeep Yadav compared the 22-yard strip at the Barsapara Stadium to a "road" due to the benign nature of the surface. 

"Kolkata ka wicket toh alag thaa. Yeh to pura road tha (Kolkata's wicket was different and this was a whole road). So it's challenging and that's why it's called a Test wicket," said Kuldeep in press conference. 

India vs South Africa 2nd Test Day 2

India finished the second day at 9 for no loss in their first innings after South Africa put up a strong total of 489 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. After bowling more than 151 overs to dismiss South Africa, India were still 480 runs behind when they began their reply. At stumps, Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 7, with KL Rahul on 2, before bad light ended play early.

Earlier in the day, Senuran Muthusamy scored his first Test century with a well-made 109. Marco Jansen fell just short of his own hundred, getting out for 93. Their partnership helped South Africa take control of the match.
