The Afghan team that competed in the Champions Trophy 2025 did not include Hazratullah. The southpaw has participated in 16 ODIs and 45 T20Is since making his debut for his country in an ODI match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2016. Zazai defeated Ireland in the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, scoring 162 runs off 62 balls with 11 fours and 11 sixes, good for second place on the list of best individual scores in Twenty20 Internationals.
The 26-year-old has not represented Afghanistan this season; the last time he wore the national uniform was during the December 2024 T20I series against Zimbabwe. Zazai has amassed 361 and 1160 runs in 16 One-Day Internationals and 45 Twenty20 Internationals, along with one hundred and five half-centuries. When Zazai was playing for the Kabul Zwanan against the Balkh Legends in the 2018 Afghanistan Premier League, he struck six sixes in an over off left-arm spinner Abdullah Mazari at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In that game, he amassed 62 runs with a strike-rate of 364.70 off 17 balls.
