Pakistan were 14/4 after powerplay overs.

Only three Pakistan batters managed to score in double digits.

Pakistan's tour of New Zealand did not get off to a desired start as they were bowled out for a paltry 91 in the five-T20I series opener at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on March 16. Pakistan were bowled out for 91, their lowest total in the format against New Zealand.

This is the first time New Zealand have bowled out Pakistan for less than 100. The previous lowest for Pakistan against New Zealand was 101 which came in 2016 in Wellington. Overall, this is Pakistan's fifth-lowest total in T20Is. Also, this is the lowest T20I score for the T20 World Cup 2009 champions since 2016 when they were bundled out for 83 by India in Asia Cup 2016.

Earlier, New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pakistan captain Salman Agha named three debutants -- Hasan Nawaz, Abdul Samand and Mohammad Ali -- in the playing XI.

"We're playing with a new combination. I am very excited for the new guys, I think they are going to have a blast," Salman said at the coin toss.

Wickets tumble in powerplay overs

However, it went the opposite way for Pakistan. Mohammad Haris was dismissed for a six-ball duck by Kyle Jamieson in the first over. Nawaz couldn't do much and got out for a two-ball duck to Jacob Duffy. Jamieson struck in his second over as well with the wicket of Irfan Khan. Pakistan lost three wickets for just one run. Salman hit the first boundary of the innings. Jamieson in his third over got the wicket of vice-captain Shadab Khan. Pakistan were 14/4 after powerplay overs.
