The Australia Under-19 team doesn't seem to any match for India Under-19 in red-ball cricket. After a defeat by an innings and 58 runs in the first Youth Test, young Aussie batters surrendered to the visitors as they were bowled out for 135.
Collapse against new ball
Australia Under-19 captain Will Malajczuk won the toss and opted to bat first at Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay. Udhav Mohan struck in the first over, knocking over Simon Budge for a golden duck. In his third over, Mohan got rid of Zed Hollick as well. Henil Patel joined the party as Alex Turner got bowled in the next over. In his fifth over, Henil struck twice to dismiss skipper Malajczuk and Jayden Draper. The hosts lost half the side for just 32 runs in the 10th over.
Young fights lone battle
Alex Lee Young and Yash Deshmukh tried to do damage control. Young found boundaries as Australia recovered. The partnership was broken by Khilan Patel in the 28th over. Deshmukh departed for a 54-ball 22. They shared a 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket. The last thing Australia wanted was a run out. Kasey Barton fell short of the crease and departed after scoring nine runs from 37 balls. In the 40th over, Young reached his century from 94 balls.
Left-arm spinner Khilan's double blow in the 41st over meant Young remained stranded on one end. He dismissed Charles Lachmund and Will Byrom. Young looked to score as quickly as possible. Deepesh Devendran returned and made him his first victim of the day. Young scored 66 runs from 108 deliveries, including nine fours and a six.
India lose early wickets too
In reply, India Under-19 did not get off to a good start. Malhotra Walked out to open the innings with Mhatre. Both the batters were dismissed by Byrom. India were 18/2 in the fourth over.
