Uttar Pradesh opener Adarsh Singh scripted history at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy Elite quarterfinal 2 clash. Adarsh scored an unbeaten 223 against Prateek Yadav-led Mumbai, helping his side post a gigantic total of 453/5 on the board.
Adarsh had played in the Under-19 Men’s World Cup 2024. On November 25, the 20-year-old smashed 18 sixes and 14 fours in his unbeaten 138-ball 223. He did not go berserk straightaway. He reached his century from 103 balls. In the slog overs, he launched a brutal onslaught and scored 123 runs from remaining 35 deliveries he faced.
The left-handed batter Adarsh and Swastik Chikara shared a 113-run opening partnership from 16.2 overs. Chikara hit eight fours and five sixes in his 58-ball 73. Atharva Bhosale took his wicket. Later, he dismissed Uttar Pradesh skipper Sameer Rizvi for a 20-ball 12.
Ali Zafir Mohsin scored 31 runs from 35 sixes including three sixes before becoming Himanshu Singh's only victim of the day. Then Zaid Patankar dismissed Ritiraj Sharma (17-ball 7) and Ritik Vats (14-ball 19). Adarsh reached his century from 129 deliveries. He shared an unbeaten 107-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Prashant Veer who hit four sixes and six fours in his 22-ball 66.
How Adarsh fared in Under-19 World Cup 2024?
Adarsh scored 238 runs from seven innings at an average of 34, including two half-centuries.
In the final against Australia, he scored 47 runs from 77 deliveries in the unsuccessful run chase as India lost by 79 runs. He was India's top-scorer in the final.
He is yet to play domestic cricket for the senior state team across formats.
