Another injury blow to Bangladesh.

Star player ruled out of Test series vs West Indies.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has also been ruled out of Bangladesh's two-match Test series against the West Indies, after Mushfiqur Rahim. Shanto exited the pitch in the middle of the second ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah due to a groin injury. Additionally, he was absent from Monday's third and final ODI.

Shanto's replacement for the Test series

The Tigers will be led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who captained them in the third ODI, in the Caribbean Test matches. However, Shanto's successor for the West Indies Tests has not yet been announced.

"We have received the team physio's report and the scan report, which has confirmed a Grade II strain on his left groin," Dr Debashis Chowdhury, a BCB senior physician, said in a statement.

"This will require a period of rest and rehabilitation. We will reassess his condition after two weeks. He will return home from the UAE to continue his rehab," Chowdhury added.

Meanwhile, Mushfiqur missed the rest of the series and the West Indies Tests after hurting his finger in the opening ODI against the Afghans. Bangladesh would not have Mushfiqur, Shakib Al Hasan, or Tamim Iqbal in a Test-playing XI for the first time in sixteen years.

BCB announced their squad for the series on Sunday. Litton Das has returned after missing the Test match against South Africa. The team also includes uncapped Hasan Murad, who played in the final Test in Mirpur last month in place of Shakib Al Hasan. Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, will host the first Test match on November 22.
