The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Akash Deep as Shivam Mavi's replacement in India's squad for the Asian Games 2023. Mavi has been ruled out of the Asian games as he is suffering from a back injury. The 19th Asian Games is slated to be held in in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. While men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format. Akash Deep featured for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023.
“Mavi is suffering from a back injury and is ruled out of the tournament. The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format.,” the BCCI stated.
India's Men's cricket team's squad for Asian Games: Ruturaj Gaikwad (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Akash Deep.
Standby list of players: Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Sai Sudarsan.
Besides men's cricket BCCI also named Pooja Vastrakar as Anjali Sarvani's replacement in the women's squad for the continental event. Vastrakar was earlier a part of the standby list of players.
Sarvani, the left-arm fast bowler, has been sidelined due to a knee injury and won't be participating in the event at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The women's T20 cricket tournament will run from 19th to 28th September 2023.

Standby list of players: Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque.
