In order to finalize the central contracts list for the forthcoming season and identify a possible future Test captain, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is scheduled to meet with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir. According to information obtained by Sports Tak, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia and other interested parties will convene in Guwahati on Saturday, March 29th, to make a number of crucial decisions that will impact Indian cricket going forward.
Virat, Rohit and Jadeja to retain contracts
According to a source, top players Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are expected to keep their A+ contracts. In addition to them, a few more names will be added to the list, such as Shreyas Iyer, who was apparently unable to sign a contract last year since he was not playing domestic cricket.
Varun Chakravarthy, the 2025 Champions Trophy star for India, will also sign a central contract. In order to facilitate the team's transition, the board will also chart a course for Test cricket's future. It is anticipated that decisions will be made regarding the future and availability of specific players in Test cricket.

A prospective contender for future Test captaincy will also be discussed by the Board. In June, India will go to England for their upcoming Test series. Because of his dismal performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 (BGT 2024-25), captain Rohit Sharma is unlikely to be included in the team and has chosen not to go on the tour.
In the last Test match in Sydney, Rohit also took a break, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the squad in his place. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, is probably going to keep his spot in the Test squad. India's last lengthy Test season was forgettable for both Rohit and Kohli. At an average of 22.47, Kohli scored 382 runs in 19 innings and finished with a century and fifty. However, Rohit only managed one half-century and amassed 164 runs at an average of 10.93 from 15 innings.
As a result, concerns have been raised regarding India's spot in the Test team after their consecutive series losses to Australia and New Zealand. But with Kohli's extensive playing experience in England, the management is probably going to give him another chance in the longest format. The first Test match of India's tour of England is set to take place at Headingley in Leeds on June 20.
