England’s recently-retired Test captain Ben Stokes made his comeback to One-Day cricket in his country’s domestic competition. Durham all-rounder Stokes marked his return with an unbeaten century in the run chase against Derbyshire on July 21. Going further in the tournament, Stokes will face Indian players as he continues to represent Durham.

On July 31 at Clifton Park Ground, York, Stokes will face Yorkshire side which will feature India’s star left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. The leggie did not get a game in the recently-concluded ODI series against England. His absence was criticised by many especially with Jasprit Bumrah being unavailable for the third ODI due to an impact injury. Kuldeep will have a point to prove as he takes the field against Durham side featuring Stokes.
Stokes vs Kuldeep in ODIs
Kuldeep has bowled against Stokes five times in ODIs. Stokes has managed 47 runs from 59 against Kuldeep. He was dismissed once in 2018 when Kuldeep claimed a six-wicket haul at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
When will Kuldeep make his Yorkshire debut?
Before facing Durham, he will have plenty of match practice. He makes his first appearance for Yorkshire against Glamorgan on July 24. Then, he will bowl against Sussex and Worcestershire on July 26 and 29 respectively.
In total, Kuldeep has joined Yorkshire for five One-Day Cup games and three County Championship games.
Stokes vs Ashutosh
At The Rose Bowl, Southampton, Stokes will go up against Hampshire side which will feature Ashutosh Sharma. The 27-year-old is yet to make his India debut. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he represents Delhi Capitals (DC).
Ashutosh’ One-Day Cup debut
Ashutosh made an underwhelming debut for Hampshire with the bat. Against Yorkshire team which did not feature Kuldeep on July 21, he scored 10 runs from nine balls. He batted at no.6 and lost his wicket to left-arm pacer Isaac Bepey. However, he redeemed himself with the ball. He bowled nine overs, including a maiden, conceded 48 runs and bagged three wickets. He affected Will Bennison's run out off his own bowling, dismissing him for a diamond duck. He got the wickets of Sam Whiteman, Harry Duke and captain Dom Bess, helping his side win by 50 runs.
Ashutosh will face Middlesex, Worcestershire and Essex on July 24, 26 and 31 respectively before going up against Stokes.
Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is in action for Northamptonshire in the tournament. He bagged two wickets for 52 runs against Warwickshire on July 21. However, he won't take on Stokes until the knockouts as his team is in Group A.
