Young Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the series between India A and New Zealand which is currently taking place in Bengaluru. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler went down with back problems and did not feature in the first four-day Test that started on Thursday, September 1.

Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed to sources that the 26-year-old Krishna sustained back spasms and will not be taking part in any of the matches. His unavailability, which came to be known on the eve of the ongoing game, has left India A without an experienced pacer.

The team, led by Priyank Panchal, has gone into the game with four bowlers — Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Arzan Nagwaswalla, and Kuldeep Yadav. Part-timer Tilak Varma also chipped in with a few overs on Day

One which ended with the visitors, who elected to bat, finishing at 156 for 5 in 61 overs.

There are two more four-day games in the series — starting on September 8 and the final one on September 15. A decision is yet to be taken on whether the selectors will name a replacement for Krishna. There may be consultation with the team management, headed by VVS Laxman before that call is taken.

Apart from the three four-day games, the New Zealand A team will also play three one-day matches. All these matches will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on September 22, 25, and 27 respectively.
