Mohammad Hasnain is likely to replace him for South Africa ODI.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on February 9 confirmed that their star fast bowler Haris Rauf sustained a muscular sprain in the lower chest wall region during the opening clash of tri-nation series against New Zealand. After the MRI and X-ray scans came in, Rauf is cleared to play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as his injury is not serious.

However, Rauf will not be playing in Pakistan's second clash of the tri-nation series against South Africa on February 12 at National Stadium, Karachi. He will warm the benches as a precautionary measure ahead of the mega event.

If Pakistan manage to qualify for the tri-nation series final, it is not clear whether Pakistan would risk Rauf getting injured. The final is scheduled to be played at the same venue on February 14.

Pakistan will play New Zealand in the opening clash of the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 19 in Karachi.

Who will replace Rauf for South Africa ODI?

In Rauf's absence, Mohammad Hasnain may get a chance to play against Temba Bavuma-led South Africa. It will be a full strength Proteas side as senior players will join the inexperienced squad ahead of their second match of tri-nation series.

Hasnain made his last ODI appearance in December 2024 against South Africa. He claimed the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen and conceded 41 runs from seven overs.
