India captyain Shubman Gill has been named ICC's Player of the Month for July following his stellar display with the bat in the recently-concluded five-match series against England. The 25-year-old dominated with the bat throughout the assignment and finished as the series' top-scorer with 754 runs in just 10 innings. He was chosen over England's Ben Stokes and South Africa's Wiaan Mulder for the honour.
Gill accumulated a total of 567 runs in three Tests held in July, maintaining a sensational average of 94.50. He scored a double-century and two hundreds in the three matches and became nothing short of a nightmare for the England bowling attack.
"It feels great to be named ICC Player of the Month for July. This time it holds more significance as it comes during my first Test series as captain. The double ton in Birmingham will be a memory I cherish forever. It was a learning curve for me as captain, and I'm grateful to my teammates and the jury for recognising my efforts," Gill said after receiving the award.

Gill has now won the award 4 times
This is now Gill's fourth Player of the Month award and he has now become the first-ever male player to win it more than three times. He previously won the award in January 2023, September 2023 and February 2025. This award saw Gill break his tie with Pakistan's Babar Azam, who has been chosen as the winner of the award three times.
Meanwhile, Gill's first Test assignment as India captain proved to be a success as not only did he perform brilliantly with the bat, but also because his side went on to draw the series at 2-2 by defeating England in the fifth and final Test by just a 6-run margin. The thrilling victory at The Oval will definitely be remembered by Indian fans for many years to come.
Gill & Co's next Test assignment will be two-match home series against West Indies which is set to commence from October 2. With the side currently sitting third on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, they will be looking to make more gains on the standings with the upcoming series.
