India Under 19 managed to score 296 runs against Australia.

Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a rapid century, but India U19’s middle and lower order collapsed against Australian spinners Thomas Brown and Vishwa Ramkumar, squandering their advantage on the second day of the four-day first unofficial Test on Tuesday.

Suryavanshi resumed his innings on 81 and completed his century with a quick 104 off 62 balls, hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes. He formed a solid opening partnership of 133 runs with Vihaan Malhotra, who contributed 76 runs off 108 balls, including 13 fours and 1 six.

However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered, and India, who started the day at 103/0, were eventually bowled out for 296 in their first innings, just three runs more than Australia’s total.

In their second innings, the visitors found themselves in a precarious position at 110 for four, but they still held a 107-run lead, as chasing anything near 200 in the fourth innings could prove challenging.

The Australians owe their slight edge to their crafty spinners—off-spinner Thomas Brown (3/79) and Indian-origin leg-spinner Vishwa Ramkumar (4/79).

After Christian Howe's direct throw ran out Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Brown and Ramkumar disrupted the Indian batting lineup, taking the remaining nine wickets for just 163 runs.

The next significant partnership in India's first innings came from Abhigyan Kundu (32) and skipper Soham Patwardhan (33), who added 57 runs for the fifth wicket, but India couldn't even surpass the 300-run mark.

In their second innings, opener Riley Kingsell (48) and Oliver Peake (32) put together a 72-run partnership for the second wicket, but leg-spinner Mohammed Enaan managed to take two wickets, applying pressure on the Australian side.
