Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants have appointed former Indian World Cup winner Zaheer Khan as their mentor for the upcoming season which will be played in 2025. He replaced Gautam Gambhir to take responsibility for the IPL franchise.
Gambhir had parted ways with Lucknow in IPL 2024 and joined IPL defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After this, he also left KKR and then became the new head coach of Team India.
“I am very excited about this team because this is the beginning of a new journey for me. When you join a team that wants to win and in which you see the atmosphere of cricket, then nothing can be better than that. Because this also gives a path to the cricketers. Lucknow has that status and capability” said Zaheer Khan in an exclusive conversation to Sports Tak.
Zaheer Khan described the Lucknow team as a strong team and said that the journey of the team has been of three years and the team has reached the playoffs twice. There cannot be anything better than this to start the IPL season.
Zaheer to have a meeting with Justin Langer
Zaheer Khan also revealed his wishlist and said that all these things are important because you have to think about doing well in the league and moving forward. But right now there is still time. The sign of a good team is that the atmosphere of the team should be good. I will have a long meeting with Justin Langer. We will take everyone's advice and make good things even better.
Zaheer Khan further said about the Lucknow team that, the most important thing in IPL is to take a decision. When you are under pressure, you have to take a big decision. And as a player, as a coach, you have to decide for the team. In such a situation, the way I see the game, I want to bring the same in the team as well. As a player, you have to be open. In such a situation, I have a lot of expectations from the team.
