As the deadline to announce the list of released and retained players nears, there is speculation about big players getting traded during the transfer window. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction is set for December 19 as franchises will be eyeing World Cup stars like Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Daryl Mitchell, Gerald Coetzee, and others.
After a century in Visakhapatnam, Josh Inglis may be on franchises’ radars with plenty of spots to fill. The franchises will have an increased purse by Rs 5 crore and may go all out for the top players on their list.

As per a report by Cricbuzz, big players like Harry Brook (Rs 13.25 crore), Sam Curran (Rs 18.50 crore), Tim Southee (Rs 1.5 crore), Lockie Ferguson (Rs 10 crore) and Shardul Thakur (Rs 10.75 crore) may get released by their respective franchises. But Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) may still be reluctant to release Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell.
England’s batting sensation Brook was disappointing at the top of the order for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He managed to score just one century in his maiden IPL season. Curran was picked after winning the ‘Player of the series’ award in the T20 World Cup 2022 and became the most expensive player in the league’s history. However, he could not justify the price tag either for Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Thakur was traded to KKR but he barely bowled his full quota of four overs. Ferguson was not menacing either after getting released by Gujarat Titans (GT).
While defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will have plenty of money to spend after releasing an unavailable Ben Stokes (Rs 16.25 crore) and a retired Ambati Rayudu (Rs 6.75 crore), they are expected to release South Africa's Dwaine Pretorius, Sisanda Magala and New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson.
After a poor season without the services of their injured captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals (DC) finished ninth on the points table under David Warner’s leadership. DC are set to release Manish Pandey and Sarfaraz Khan. However, they may release several other players in an attempt to revamp and eye their maiden IPL trophy.
