IND U19 vs SL U19: Manal Chauhan's ton & fifty, clinical bowling helps India beat Sri Lanka by 211 runs

Yashbardhan Chauhan-led India Under-19 beat Sri Lanka Under-19 by 211 runs in the second Youth Test on July 23 in Colombo. On Day 4, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 260 as India registered a 1-0 series win. 

Chasing a target of 472, Sri Lanka started Day 4 with 155/4 on the board. Vimath Dinsara could add just nine runs to his overnight score of 55. He fell to pacer Vimath Dinsara. Then, Rohit Yadav dismissed Dulnith Sigera and Jason Fernando in the same over. Sethmika Seneviratne entertained the crowd with a 49-ball 42. He missed his half-century as Jeganathan Hemchudeshan cut-short his stay at the crease. The hosts were bowled out for 260 in 76.5 overs. Rohit bagged a four-wicket haul.

Ojha, Manal scored tons, Sri Lanka suffer collapse

Earlier, in the first innings, Indian openers departed without adding a run to the score. Kushagra Ojha and skipper Yashbardhan shared a 122-run partnership. Yashbardhan scored 78 runs from 89 balls. Ojha went on to score a century. He was run out for 111. Manal continued to bat on but he started running out of partners. Manal departed for 150 from 244 balls. He became the ninth batter to depart. India posted 411 from 105.2 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 148 in 52.1 overs. Sigera top-scored with a 37-ball 31. Pranav Ragavendra, Chigurupati Venkata, Hemchudeshan and Yadav claimed a couple of wickets each.

No follow-on, India pile on runs

Yashbardhan chose not to enforce follow-on. Kavija Gamage struck twice with the new ball. Yashbardhan was dismissed cheaply too. Lakshya Raichandani made up for the duck in the first innings with an unbeaten 100 from 116 balls. He hit nine fours and a six. On the other end, Manal scored 51 runs from 46 balls, featuring seven fours and a six. Raichandani and Manal shared an unbeaten 95-run partnership for the fourth wicket as India posted 208/3.

First youth Test drawn

Earlier, the first youth Test of the series ended in a draw. In reply to Senuja Wekunagoda's 233, Raichandani scored a double ton, accompanied by Sagar Virk and Manav Krishna's tons.
