India's preparation for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup will feature a five-match T20I series against South Africa. The assignment will begin from April 17 and it will see Durban host the first two games. Johannesburg will be the one hosting the next two games on April 22 and 25. Finally, Benoni will play host to the series finale on April 27. Notably, this series will be South Africa's final assignment before the T20 World Cup begins in June.
"Facing a team of India's quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation," Enoch Nkwe, CSA director of national teams and high performance, said in a statement.
"It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team's readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup," he added.
India to face England in May
This will not be India's final assignment before the T20 World Cup as they will be taking on England in a T20I series in May. Additionally, they will also be touring Australia for a multi-format series in February-March. The upcoming months are going to be quite busy for the Women in Blue.

On the other hand, the Proteas will also be participating in multiple assignments heading into the T20 World Cup. They will first be facing Pakistan in a T20I and ODI series that will take place in February-March. They will then be touring New Zealand in March-April before their series against India takes place.
Meanwhile, the upcoming edition of the Women's T20 World Cup will be held in England and will begin from June 12. It will be a 12-team tournament, but four of the teams are yet to be decided through the qualifiers. Both India and South Africa are present in Group B alongside Australia and Pakistan while Group A consists of England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies. Two teams from each group are yet to be decided.
