On Day 3, Afghanistan resumed batting at 134/3. Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were well set. Adair got the breakthrough early in the first session trapping Shahidi in front of the stumps. He scored 55 runs from 107 balls including five fours. A few overs later, Nasir Jamal got bowled by Barry McCarthy.

Gurbaz pushed the scoring rate with a few boundaries. Karim Jant tried to play second fiddle but Craig Young got his wicket. He scored 13 runs from 39 balls. In his next over, Young did not let Gurbaz score his half-century. The wicketkeeper-batter got bowled after scoring 46 runs.

Zia-ur-Rehman and Naveed Zadran took Afghanistan's score past 200. Theo van Woerkom broke the partnership with the wicket of Rehman (13). McCarthy struck again to dismiss Nijat Masood for a seven-ball duck. Young wrapped up Afghanistan's innings with the wicket of Naveed who scored 25 runs. Afghanistan posted 218 on the board setting a target of 111.
