MI managed to win one match out of first three outings.

A young Jasprit Bumrah left a strong impression on Yuvraj Singh long before he became a star in world cricket. When Bumrah was just 16, he bowled to Yuvraj in the nets while the senior batter was recovering from cancer and trying to return to cricket in 2013.

Yuvraj Singh revealed how Bumrah troubled him

Yuvraj later recalled that Bumrah’s pace surprised him. He even asked the youngster to stop bowling because it became too difficult to face at that stage of his recovery.

“He was only 16, but bowling really quick in the nets. I was coming back after cancer treatment and told him, ‘Kid, please stop bowling to me,’” Yuvraj said in a conversation with Michael Vaughan.

He added that Bumrah had a short run-up back then and wasn’t fully polished, but his speed and unusual action made him very hard to face. The ball often rose quickly and kept hitting the body area, which made it uncomfortable for batters.

“He’s so smart and skillful. Because of his action, it’s hard to read his slower balls. Batters don’t really go after him,” Yuvraj said.

Bumrah is now playing for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026. The five-time champions MI are currently on number eight in the points table tally as they managed to win one match out of three.
