After the controversial scenes during India A's heated clash against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla, the BCCI now faces a crucial call about disciplinary action against the teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and skipper Tilak Varma. According to some fresh reports, penalties have been suggested for both players over their engagement in the brawl, through the authority to approve and implement those sanctions ultimately lies with the Indian cricket board.

BCCI takes big action against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

According to a latest report by Sportstar, match referee Pradeep Jeyapragash has suggested disciplinary sanctions after the heated incident after the end of the game. Vaibhav is reportedly to face a fine of 50 per cent of his match fee for his involvement in the physical altercation with Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage.

On the other hand, India A skipper Tilak Varma has also been recommended for punishment, with the referee suggesting a fine worth 30 percent of his match fee, as he was seen having a heated argument with the on-field umpires on two different occasions. The first came when the match official informed the Indian side that Super Over might not take place because of bad lighting conditions.

The second instance occurred with a no-ball on the last delivery of Sri Lanka A's Super Over innings, resulting in a strong protest from the India A skipper.

The report also claims that disciplinary actions in A-team cricket are not overseen by ICC, as those are the matter of the respective national boards unlike in senior international games. As an outcome, the match referee can only make recommendations, as the final decision rests on the concerned boards. However, no official hearing was conducted in relation with the incident, and the suggested sanctions were based on the report submitted by the on-field umpires.
