The former Indian captain's future with CSK remains uncertain as the IPL governing body finalizes player rules for the upcoming season.

"There is a lot of time for it. We have to see what decision they take on player retention etc. Right now, the ball is not in our court. So, once the rules and regulations get formalised, I will take a call, but needs to be in the best interest of the team," said Dhoni at a promotional event in Hyderabad.

Speculation surrounding MS Dhoni's IPL career has intensified after Chennai Super Kings' underwhelming performance in IPL 2024. The decision to appoint Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain added fuel to the rumors. Complicating matters further is the lack of consensus among IPL franchises regarding player retention and other rules for the upcoming season.
