Mumbai won the match by 3 wickets in the 26th over.

After 85-run opening partnership, Hyderabad lost 10 wickets for 84 runs.

Hyderabad captain Tilak Varma departed for a two-ball duck.

Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer decided to shuffle the batting order as Hyderabad suffered a massive batting collapse and managed to set a non-threatening target of 170 at Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground, Ahmedabad on December 23. However, Mumbai ended up suffering a collapse too as they found themselves 67 for 6 in the 13th over. In the end, the in-form Iyer walked out to bat at no.9 after Suryakumar Yadav departed and took the team home with an unbeaten 44.

Collapse after ideal start

Earlier, Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. Hyderabad got off to a decent star in the first powerplay overs. The openers Tanmay Agarwal and Abhirath Reddy shared an 85-run partnership. Atharva Ankolekar broke the partnership in the 19th over with Reddy's wicket. He scored 35 runs from 48 balls. In the same over, he dismissed captain Tilak Varma for a two-ball duck as well. Hyderabad lost two more wickets quickly. Ankolekar got rid of Rohit Rayudu in his next over. Tanush Kotian joined the party and dismissed Aelgani Varun Goud for a single-digit score.

Avanish hits fifty amidst collapse

Agarwal and young wicketkeeper-batter Aravelly Avanish got the innings back on track. Ayush Mhatre broke the partnership with the opener's wicket. He scored 64 runs from 74 balls. His knock was studded with nine fours and a six. Once again, Hyderabad lost four wickets in quick intervals. Running out of partners, Avanish decided to attack. He hit three sixes and six fours in his 47-ball 52. In the 39th over, Hyderabad were bowled out for 169. Ankolekar bagged a four-wicket haul whereas Mhatre took three wickets.

Suryakumar fails but Iyer finishes it off

Suryakumar joined Kotian in the 13th over of the innings when Mumbai needed more than 100 runs. Suryakumar could not play the finisher role either and got out lbw to Dev Goud for a 23-ball 18. Mumbai were 105/7 when Iyer walked out to bat. Kotian played the anchor role whereas Iyer dominated the bowlers. He hit three sixes and four fours in his unbeaten 20-ball 44 to take Mumbai home with three wickets in hand and 148 balls to spare. On the other end, Kotian remained unbeaten for a 37-ball 39.
