The call to reschedule was taken late on September 30.

The first of three unofficial ODI series between India A and Australia A on September 30 was washed out due to rain without a ball being bowled at Green Park, Kanpur. While there was no reserve day for the white-ball series opener, it has been reportedly rescheduled for October 1.

As per a report by Sportstar, the decision to reschedule was taken later on September 30 evening.

“There was no water on the outfield last night. The ground staff worked through the night after the rain stopped,” the source said.

“We were told by the match officials to go ahead with the contest on Wednesday, weather permitting. If we do have a game, it will be played behind closed doors,” the source added.

The only player in India A squad confirmed to be on the flight to Australia for ODI series is Shreyas Iyer. He was named captain of the team, replacing Rajat Patidar for first game and Tilak Varma for the remaining two. He has already asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a six-month break from red-ball cricket after experiencing issues in his back.

On the other hand, it is an opportunity for Jake Fraser-McGurk to get the attention of selectors after a rough patch. Cooper Connolly and Tanveer Sangha will be looking to do the same after losing their place in the senior squad.
