Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh will part be part of Team India's squad for the Ireland tour along with other young and talented players who missed out on the upcoming West Indies tour. According to a report in The Indian Express, the selector will name Rinku and others in the squad for Ireland series and the reason why they were not selected for West Indies tour was because the decision-makers didn't want to hand opportunities to everyone in one go.
With the Men in Blue are slated to play big-ticket tournaments this year, including the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. Several big players are likely to be rested for the white-ball series against Ireland.
"Rinku and other players who did well in the IPL will fly to Ireland as the selection committee doesn’t want to try everyone at one stage. There are seven players of the Indian ODI team who are not going to play T20 as those players are key for us going ahead as they will be playing Asia Cup in late August," The Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying.
Rinku and Ruturaj Gaikwad, both batters who performed exceedingly well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, missed out on India's T20I squad for the West Indies series. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma received their maiden national T20I call-up for the West Indies series. Rinku and Ruturaj will get a chance to play for the country against Ireland.
