'Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal and...': Rajasthan Royals' retention plan ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is around the corner and the governing body BCCI has already given the deadline to the respective team owners to submit their final retention list by October 31, 2024. As per sources close to Sports Tak, IPL 2022 finalists Rajasthan Royals (RR) will retain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Yuzvendra Chahal will be picked using RTM.

A top source in the Rajasthan-based franchise told Sports Tak that they are currently sticking with three players Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yuzvendra Chahal will be their first pick using RTM. 

Sanju Samson is in lethal form he recently smashed a century in the third T20I against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal recently featured in the first Test match against New Zealand and now the opening batter will also feature in second and third Test against BlackCaps

The source further added that the top bosses of RR are currently in the UK for a meeting to finalise their auction and retention plan. Head coach Rahul Dravid, Kumar Sangakkara,  CEO Jake Lush McCrum, and Director of Data & Analytics Giles Lindsay will attend the meeting in the UK.  

Sports Tak earlier reported that the mega auction for the marquee event is set to take place in Riyadh. While asked about the suggested dates RR source revealed that the auction will take place on the 24th or 25th of next month, BCCI has yet to convey the franchises for the exact date.

Where is Jos Buttler?

The franchise has given no information on England star Jos Buttler. He is currently on the road to recovery from the injury he got during the T20 World Cup 2024. He last featured in England's elimination from the T20 World Cup, with their semi-final defeat to India in Guyana in June.
