Star Bangladesh all-rounder and country's Test captain, Shakib Al Hasan on January 04 (Wednesday) brutally criticised the nation's cricket board for their poor marketing strategy pertaining to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Ahead of the ninth season of the T20 tournament, Shakib gave an example of Bollywood movie 'Nayak' and affirmed that he would fix the problems in one or two months.

"If they made me the BPL CEO, it would take me one or two months to correct everything. You have seen the movie Nayak right? If you want to do something, you can do it in one day," Shakib told reporters.

"I would do the players' draft and auction (on time) and hold the BPL during a free time. We will have all the modern technologies. There will be quality broadcast and home and away venues," he added.

Shakib, who captains Fortune Barishal in BPL, is the leading wicket-taker in the competition that began in 2012. The 35-year-old all-rounder highlighted Bangladesh Cricket Board's ineptitude in popularising BPL.

"I don't know about the standard of BPL. It is difficult to say whether we could not or didn't want (to make it successful)," Shakib opined

"I don't see any reason not to do if we want with the possibility we have in Bangladesh. I think we've never wanted to do anything honestly," he continued.

The ninth edition of BPL will be played between January 05 and February 16. Shakib voiced his frustration when it comes to the lack of technological advancement in the franchise tournament and highlighted other problems.

"I don't see what's stopping us if we have the willingness (to correct things)," Shakib observed.

"If we are willing, I don't see any reason not to have the DRS, the draft or auction not being held three months in advance, or the teams wouldn't be confirmed two months in advance.

"The players are only available for one or two matches. Nobody really knows for how long they are available," he added.
