Cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has warned a website to take legal action against a website for publishing a misleading article attributed to him during the first Test between India and Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The website, Cricket Ception, posted a column on Friday evening under Gavaskar’s name, titled, "A New Era in Leadership: Bumrah’s Captaincy and Kohli’s Leadership Revive Team India."
The website published a fake article on Friday evening related to Gavaskar praising India stars Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli. However, the former India captain issues a clarification, saying he has written no such column.
Gavaskar took his Instagram to share the video on Saturday to issue a clarification over a fake article Sharing the video, 1983 World Cup winner wrote, "Never believe everything you see on the Internet #alwaysverify."
In the video, the former India batter said, "Hi, this is Sunil Gavaskar and I want to say that there is a website cricket ception which has printed an article under my name. I have to say that that is completely fake, I have not contributed that at all and I want to tell that website to take it down immediately."
"Issue an apology. If you don't do that immediately, I will give the matter to my legal team. So don't believe a word of what you've read, this is a completely fake article and attributed to me," he added.
Coming back to the Perth Test, after getting all-out on just 150 runs in the first innings. Bumrah-led bowling attack troubled hosts Australia as they bundled them out on just 104 runs where Bumrah picked a fifer, Harshit Rana got three and Mohammed Siraj picked two. While writing this copy, India openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 36 and 42 runs respectively which helped India to take a lead of 133 runs.
