The first innings of the second match of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 between Chepauk Super Gillies and Salem Spartans ended in a comical manner when Salem bowler Abhishek Tanwar was forced to bowl 11 balls in the last over. He conceded a total of 26 runs, out of which 18 runs were scored on 1 ball!

These runs were hit by Sanjay Yadav of the Chepauk team as he scored an unbeaten 31 in 12 balls with two fours and three sixes and taking his team's total to 217 runs for five wickets. He managed 18 runs off one ball because of three consecutive no-balls and 1 wide as well.

Eventually, Chepauk won the match by 52 runs as Salem were able to only manage 165 runs for nine wickets in response to their 217 runs.

What happened in the last over
Chepauk's score was 191 for five after 19 overs when Abhishek Tanwar was handed the responsibility of bowling the last over. He conceded only six runs off the first four balls which included a four but that is when things went wrong.

The fifth ball was a no-ball but he gave only one run and a free hit. But Abhishek's next ball was also a no-ball but this time the batter hit it away Sanjay for a six on the free hit, and due to the no-ball, another free hit.

On the next free hit, Sanjay ran two runs but was lucky as Abhishek bowled a third straight no-ball. Then the next ball was wide as he eventually bowled a legal ball which was once again hit for a six.
Abhishek conceded 18 runs on the last ball. Four of these came from no ball and wide, and the rest 14 were hit by Sanjay Tadav with the bat. In the first three overs of Abhishek, only 18 runs were scored and one wicket was taken. On the contrary, in the last over, all the hard work went in vain. He bowled a total of four no-balls and a wide in the last over. After four overs, his figures were 44 runs and one wicket.

Sanjay has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL. He also played a match in IPL 2022 for Mumbai. However, after this, he was released. He could not score any runs in his only match in the IPL.
