USA Cricket is undergoing a change on a timeline of governance enhancement, athlete representation, and conformity to the laid-down standards of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). After the recent election of three members to the Board of Directors, the organization has embarked on reforms aimed at inclusivity and transparency.

 Board Restructure and Election
Governance scrutiny and restructuring are sadly seen in good light, almost with the notion of good luck, attributing a lot of changes in the Board of Directors of USA Cricket. Three directorships became vacated in respect of Kuljit Singh-Nijjar (Individual Director), Arjun Gona (Individual Director), and Patricia Whittaker (Independent Director). In the meantime, the present Independent Director David Haubert has been recommended for reappointment, with Staff recommendations still awaited by the Nominating and Governance Committee.

In the interests of fair representation, elections for the Individual Director will be structured and conducted by USA Cricket. All registered individual members of USA Cricket would be eligible to vote, since candidates must meet the constitutional legitimacy criteria proving their contribution to sport.

The timeline of the elections is given below:
- February 15, 2025: Elections announced and start of membership review process.
- February 16-March 1, 2025: Peer review of the published member data.
- March 1-10, 2025: Peer review period of player data.
- March 10, 2025: Completion of audit of member data.

"This process is so important," mentions USA Cricket Chairman Venu Pisike. "These elections ensure USA Cricket is guided by individuals committed to sport's growth and strong governance. We look forward to welcoming new Board members who will help in shaping the future of cricket in the U.S."

Improving Diversity through Appointment of Female Independent Director
To maintain diversity and expertise in the board, USA Cricket is currently looking for Female Independent Director's application. This is because external perspectives and enhancement of the governance structure are critical.

"The inclusion of a Female Independent Director will ensure our Board reflects diverse perspectives and expertise," representatives from the Nomination and Governance Committee stated.

 Strengthening Athlete Representation
To align itself with the restructuring requirements laid down by the USOPC, USA Cricket commenced amending its Constitution to guarantee the allotment of not less than 33% athlete representation at the levels of Board and Committee, with four Athlete Directors elected by international players having represented the U.S. now being included.

In this manner, two of those directors will also act as the primary and alternate representatives to the USOPC Athlete's Commission (USOPC AC), guaranteeing that cricket athletes will forever have a voice into the greater Olympic and Paralympic movement. In an additional development, USA Cricket is to set up the Athlete's Advisory Council (USAC AAC) to supervise how athletes are appointed to various committees and to contribute their view on issues that would be highly pertinent to players.

Three Major Elections for Athlete Representation
USA Cricket proposes three elections to enhance athlete representation of the following:
1. The election of two Athlete Directors, who shall also represent the USOPC AC and be members of the USAC AAC.
2. Fill the remaining positions within the elections for the USAC AAC.
3. For two additional Athlete Directors, elections shall take place.

The elections for athlete directors will commence once USOPC has considered the criteria for athlete eligibility.

A New Era for USA Cricket
These governance reforms and elections provide a critical juncture for USA Cricket to create a more inclusive, transparent, and athlete-oriented organization. Strong leadership along with diverse perspectives will benefit the USA Cricket as it lays the foundation for sustainability in the growth and success of the game.
