CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz that the franchise is happy with MS Dhoni's decision and they couldn't have asked for anything else

"When he is ready, what else (do) we want. We are happy," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz on October 26

Viswanathan's statement follows Dhoni's declaration that he is eager to continue playing cricket for the next few years.

"I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play. When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That's what I want to do. It's not easy," Dhoni was quoted as saying by TOI earlier in the day.

While Dhoni's decision to continue playing in the IPL was widely anticipated, CSK officials had been patiently waiting for his official confirmation. They had hoped to receive his decision by October 28th.

With Dhoni's intentions now clear, CSK can finalize their player retention strategy. Viswanathan has confirmed that Dhoni will directly communicate with franchise owner N Srinivasan to finalize the list of players to be retained. Dhoni, being categorized as an uncapped player, will have a base price of only 4 crore INR.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad are set to be Chennai Super Kings' top retention picks. Matheesha Pathirana, who has been groomed by CSK, is also likely to be retained. Among Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, and Sameer Rizvi, two players are expected to be retained. The final decisions on retentions will be made during a discussion between MS Dhoni and N Srinivasan. Dhoni is expected to return to Ranchi from Goa in the coming days to finalise the team's strategy for the upcoming IPL season.
