India's star batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wreaked havoc with the bat again, this time at the DY Patil T20 Cup on February 26. Representing DY Patil Blue in the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup, Sooryavanshi dismantled the Indian Navy bowling attack with a blistering 63 runs off just 19 deliveries. With this knock, the 14-year-old batting sensation has proved his readiness for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Sooryavanshi’s rise to fame has been defined by a fearless, attacking style that first shocked the cricketing world during the 2025 IPL. While playing against the Gujarat Titans, he etched his name into the record books by smashing a hundred in just 35 balls. This feat made him the youngest centurion in IPL history and gave him the record for the fastest century ever recorded by an Indian player in the tournament.

His dominance extended into the U19 circuit, where his statistics reached elite levels. Across 25 Youth ODIs, the young opener amassed 1,412 runs at an exceptional average of 56.48 and a striking strike rate of 165.72. His tenure in the U19 setup included four centuries and seven fifties, highlighted by a legendary 175-run knock off 80 balls in the U19 World Cup final, which secured the championship for India.
In 18 T20 appearances to date, he has scored 701 runs with a staggering strike rate of 204.37. His consistency in high-speed scoring is evident in his ability to cross the 150-run mark in 12 of the innings he has played so far.
This momentum carried directly into his latest domestic appearance. Opening the chase for a target of 220 set by the Indian Navy, Sooryavanshi wasted no time, blasting 16 runs off the first four balls of the match. He reached 43 runs in a mere 12 balls, once again proving that his aggressive approach remains as potent as ever heading into the new season.

Sooryavanshi’s relentless assault on the Indian Navy bowlers reached a fever pitch in the fifth over, where he brought up his half-century in just 14 deliveries. He reached the milestone in style, punishing the opposition with a signature combination of a boundary and a towering six. Before finally departing the crease, he added one more maximum to his tally, finishing with a whirlwind 63 runs off a mere 19 balls. His innings featured seven fours and five sixes, translating to an eye-watering strike rate of 331.58.
The Indian Navy’s innings was built on several gritty contributions, headlined by a standout performance from Services’ Kuwar Pathak, who anchored the side with 87 runs off 53 balls. He was supported by brief cameos from skipper Suraj Vashist and Shubham Rohilla, who contributed 13 and 15 runs respectively. Nitin Tanwar provided a strong finish with an unbeaten 57 off 31 balls, while wicketkeeper Nakul Sharma chipped in with a quickfire 15.
On the DY Patil Blue side, the scorecard showed a collective effort beyond Sooryavanshi's fireworks. Yash Dhull and Sarfaraz Khan made modest contributions of 12 and 27 runs, while skipper Shashank Singh added a 12-ball 20. The chase was further solidified by Anand Bais, who remained not out with 35 runs, and a particularly impressive unbeaten 55 off 29 balls from Arjun Tendulkar, ensuring the momentum stayed firmly with the Blue squad.
