Bowling all-rounder Vipraj Nigam played the rescue man alongside Suryansh Shedge as India A struggled with seven wickets down for 143. But, Nigam’s mistakes led to a 10-run penalty as he was found guilty of running in the danger area of the pitch (middle) twice.

As a result, Sri Lanka will start their run chase of 266 with 10/0 on the board without the first ball is bowled. Nigam committed offences in at 34.3 and 36.4 overs mark.
Nigam, Shedge to India A’s rescue
Nigam and Shedge shared a 104-run partnership for the eighth wicket as India A struggled against spinners. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth stood out of the lot with three wickets for 26 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
Nigam scored 51 runs from 49 balls, featuring six boundaries. He was run out in the 48th over, scarifying his wicket after Shedge and him ended up at the same end. This was Nigam's maiden half-century in List A cricket. His previous best was an unbeaten 24.
No fireworks in last few overs
With Nigam getting out, India A couldn't finish with a flourish. In the same over, Mohamed Shiraz trapped Arshad Khan in front of the stumps. No boundary was scored in the penultimate over. In the final over, Shiraz got the wicket of Shedge. India A were bowled out for 265. He scored 72 runs from 66 balls, including three fours and a couple of sixes. This was 23-year-old Shedge's maiden List A fifty as well. He scored 40 runs in the previous game. His earlier List A best was 44.
India A suffer batting collapse
Earlier, Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige won the toss and opted to field first. Arachchige got the wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who scored 21 runs. Prabhsimran Singh couldn't make an impact whereas Ruturaj Gaikwad was outsmarted by Viyaskanth's googly. Skipper Tilak Varma and Ayush Badoni couldn't convert after getting starts. Replacing Priyansh Arya, Nishant Sindhu departed for a single-digit score. Viyaskanth got the wicket of Anukul Roy as well.
