India's young batter Prithvi Shaw went unsold in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. The Mumbai batter came into the auction with a base price of Rs 75 lakh but he was unable to attract any bids from 10 franchises in the mega event that happened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the last edition of the tournament.
After Shaw's IPL 2025 snub a video is going viral on a social sphere where he was talking about the trolling that he has faced throughout his career and he even said that he follows all the memes and trolls made about him. Here is the clip.
"If a person is not following me, how will they troll me? That means he has eyes on me. So I think that trolling is not good but it is not a bad thing as well. We see cricketers and even other people getting trolled. I see all the trolling, memes that are made on me. It also hurts me sometimes," he said.
"If I am seen anymore, people say that he is outside and not practising. But I am thinking - It is my birthday. Can I not celebrate? I was wondering what wrong have I done. I know if I am doing anything wrong. But if something is not wrong, it should be shown in that light," the cricketer added.
Shaw who was once compared with cricketing god Sachin Tendulkar after his Test century in the debut clash has failed to perform in international cricket. The opening batter last played for India was in 2021 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The 25-year-old batter who represented DC in IPL 2024 has just scored 198 runs in his eight outings of the cash-rich league. He last featured for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) clash against Goa where he scored 33 runs off 22 balls at Gymkhana ground in Hyderabad. Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 130-run knock helped Mumbai to defeat Goa by 26 runs.
