Oval Invincibles all-rounder Will Jacks took a magnificent one-handed catch to dismiss London Spirit's Ollie Pope in The Hundred. It all happened on the 34th delivery of the Spirit's inning which was bowled by Sam Curran. Pope, who was only batting on two runs at that time, tried to play a shot down the ground, however, he failed to beat Jacks and ended up losing his wicket cheaply.
Jacks jumped to his right to complete a marvelous flying catch and not only did it get Invincibles the big wicket of Pope, but it also restricted the Spirit to 49/3 at one stage. The clip of Jacks completing his one-handed catch made rounds on social media, leaving the viewers in awe.
Meanwhile, coming to the match, the Spirit got restricted to 152/7 by Invincibles after the end of 100 deliveries. Jamie Overton was the top-scorer for the side with his knock of 31 runs from 18 deliveries while both Jamie Smith and Ryan Higgins also gave their contributions with innings of 28 runs each. On the other hand, both Nathan Sowter and Tom Curran were the pick of the bowlers for the Invincibles as they recorded figures of 2/23 and 2/27 respectively.
In reply, Invincibles lost opener Tawanda Muyeye on the sixth delivery of their innings, but were provided a lot of stability by the duo of Jacks and Jordan Cox. After a fantastic performance in the field, Jacks also turned up the heat with the bat and played an impressive inning of 45 runs. He was assisted well by Cox, who got dismissed after playing a valiant inning of 47.
The Invincibles easily claimed victory
Cameos of 27 and 24 from Sam Curran and Donovan Ferreira respectively saw the Invincibles reach the target of 153 with 22 deliveries left to spare. It was a dominant performance from the reigning champions, who recorded a six-wicket victory over the Spirit which saw them reach the top of the standings with 24 points from 8 matches. Jacks was named the Player of the Match for his contributions with both the bat and in the field. On the other hand, the defeat left the Spirit on the sixth place with 12 points from 8 matches.
