Two candidates are front runners for BCCI secretary post.

Rohan Jaitley is the front-runner to take over Jay Shah's position when steps down as secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in November. Shah is scheduled to take over as the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on December 1 after being elected without opposition in August.

Sports Tak has learnt that Anil Patel, the secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, and Rohan Jaitley, the president of the Delhi Cricket body at the moment, would run for the position of secretary. The appointment of the next secretary will not be discussed during a Special General Meeting (SGM). Rohan Jaitley is being considered favourite as Jay Shah's successor.

Jay Shah began his career in cricket administration in 2009 with the Gujarat Cricket Association and has been the secretary of the BCCI since 2019. Shah has played a significant role in the BCCI's excellent operations, particularly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Rohan Jaitley's career in cricket administration started approximately four years ago when he was chosen to succeed his father, who served in that capacity for 14 years, as President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). His acceptance and efficacy in the position were demonstrated by his uncontested reelection to a second term.

Several changes and enhancements have been made to the DDCA under his direction. Jaitley launched the first Delhi Premier League, which has included players like Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma, and managed the successful hosting of five ODI World Cup matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. As the BCCI's president, Roger Binny will continue to lead the board's activities and collaborate closely with the recently elected secretary.
