After recovering from an ankle injury, Saim Ayub, Pakistan's young opener, will have to pass a fitness test before he can start playing in the Pakistan Super League on April 11. A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) source claims that Saim has returned to Lahore following his rehabilitation in London, where he was supervised by UK sports injury experts. The source stated that before he is permitted to participate in the PSL, he must now pass a series of fitness tests in Lahore. He stated that regardless of the PSL, Saim will get further rest before he resumes playing cricket if the PCB medical panel thinks it would be beneficial to do so.

On the first day of the second Test in January, Saim, who scored two hundreds in the ODI series in South Africa and had a significant impact on the tours of Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, broke his ankle while fielding on the boundary. After consulting with experts, the PCB sent him to London, where they recommended that he get rehabilitation. He was also ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to the injury.

According to the source, veteran opener Fakhar Zaman is getting ready to participate in the PSL and has made significant progress since suffering an injury at the beginning of the Champions Trophy.

Haris Rauf is back in the Pakistani ODI team for the match against New Zealand. After being initially removed from the ODI format for a three-match series against the Black Caps, Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf has returned to the team in New Zealand. Due to their poor performance in the Champions Trophy, when hosts Pakistan lost, Haris and Shaheen Shah Afridi were selected for the T20I team but were not included in the ODI series.

However, in the just finished T20I series, which the Kiwis won 4-1, Haris emerged as Pakistan's top wicket-taker with seven scalps, forcing the team management to reconsider their choice. Due to their poor performance in the Champions Trophy, when hosts Pakistan lost, Haris and Shaheen were left off the ODI team. A PCB source claims that selector Aaqib Javed had also asked for Muhammad Haris or Usman Khan to be kept for the ODI series, which starts in Napier on Saturday, and that a backup wicketkeeper-batter be added to the ODI team.
