England captain Harry Brook believes that unity, strong belief and staying calm in pressure moments have helped his side to reach the T20 World Cup semifinals. He also made it clear that England does not need to play a “perfect game” to win the tournament.

Interestingly, England will now face India in the second semifinal. This is the third straight T20 World Cup where the two teams are meeting at this stage.

Why England doesn't need a perfect game vs India

Even though England have won most of their matches comfortably, Brook admitted that his team hasn’t played a flawless game yet. India, who were seen as strong favourites at the start of the tournament, haven’t been perfect either. When asked if England would need their best possible performance to beat India at home.

"No, I don't believe that we need a perfect game to win the competition to be honest" said Brook.

He explained that even in matches where England were not at their best, they still found ways to win.

"The games that we have won have been nowhere near perfect and we've still managed to get the wins convincingly in some of them and then tight (in) the other games," Brook said before England's training session.

Brook lauds England's mindness

Brook credited the team’s togetherness and mindset for their success so far.

"But it's just the unity that we've had to be able to get across the line, the belief that everybody's shown throughout the games and the calmness that we've had when the bowlers have stood at the top of the mark," he added.

The England skipper also shared how special it feels to play a World Cup semifinal against the host nation at a famous venue.

"It's up there for sure. It's a dream come true for most of us to play in a World Cup semifinal against the home nation on a very iconic ground, so we're all really looking forward to it," Brook said.
