Team India etched their name into the record books during their T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 12. The Men in Blue registered the fastest team hundred in the history of the tournament, reaching the milestone in just 41 deliveries. This feat eclipsed the previous record held by the Netherlands, who achieved the same mark in 42 balls against Ireland back in 2014.

After Namibia won the toss and elected to field, the decision quickly proved costly. Despite an early breakthrough when Sanju Samson was dismissed for a brisk 22 off 8 balls, Namibia was unable to stem the flow of runs. In-form opener Ishan Kishan took command, bludgeoning a 20-ball half-century and becoming only the third Indian batter, joining Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, to score a fifty within the powerplay of a T20 World Cup match.

Kishan’s explosive innings eventually came to an end at 61 runs off 24 balls, but not before he had firmly placed India in a position of total control. His aggressive start not only dismantled the Namibian bowling attack but also reaffirmed his status as a key pillar at the top of the order, following a series of standout performances leading into the mega tournament.
