Sydney Sixers Women beat Hobart Hurricanes Women by three wickets in a last-ball thriller.

Australian all-rounder Heather Graham bowled a bizarre no-ball in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023 clash between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers. Graham bowled a no ball that would not just have been a no ball but an unplayable high full toss even for the tallest human being on earth.

The incident took place in the ninth over of the innings as Sixers were chasing 140. Graham got a second over after dismissing Maitlan Brown in the previous. On the fifth ball of the over, she bowled a massive no-ball by height that went over a fairly tall Erin Burns, wicketkeeper Elyse Villani. Even if Villani was standing back like she does to a pacer, she would have picked it on either one bounce or on the full.

The short third-man fielder had to run and pick up the ball while Burns and Ashleigh Gardener scampered for a single. However, there was barely any damage on the free hit delivery. Gardener could only take a single after hitting the ball towards long-on fielder.

Apart from the massive no ball, Graham was mostly on target. She picked up three wickets including big-hitting Cloe Tryon. She was economical as well, conceding just 18 runs from her quota of four overs. Earlier, she contributed with the bat too scoring 36 runs from 28 balls including three fours and a six.

Sixers' skipper Ellyse Perry had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Lizelle Lee scored a 34-ball 50 whereas other batters barring Graham disappointed. Hurricanes lost too many wickets in the slog overs as they managed to post 139/8.

In the run chase, the Sixers kept on losing wickets in the middle overs. However, Mathilda Carmichael and Kate Peterson guided them home in a last-ball thriller. Despite Wareham's heroics, Carmichael's 21-ball 32 featuring five fours and a patient run-a-ball 10 helped the Sixers win the match by three wickets.

November 13 has been lucky for the Sixers of late. In the previous edition, they beat Perth Scorchers in a final ball run chase. Exactly a year later, they did it against the Hurricanes.
