Story Highlights:

England have officially ruled Nat Sciver-Brunt out of their final Women's T20 World Cup group-stage match.

The ECB has shared a fresh update on the skipper's recovery as England prepare for the knockout stages.

England have been dealt another injury setback despite sealing their place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, with captain Nat Sciver-Brunt ruled out of their final group-stage fixture against New Zealand.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that the star all-rounder is making encouraging progress in her recovery from a calf injury but will not be risked for Saturday's clash at The Oval.

ECB provides fresh update on Nat Sciver-Brunt's recovery

Sciver-Brunt has been sidelined since sustaining a left calf strain during England's victory over Ireland earlier in the tournament. She was once again absent when England defeated the West Indies by 38 runs at Lord's to book their place in the knockout stages.

Following the victory, the ECB issued an update on the captain's fitness, revealing that recent medical assessments have shown positive signs.

"England Women can confirm that Nat Sciver-Brunt had an MRI scan, and it showed she is making good progress. Nat also batted in the nets on Wednesday."

The board added that while the all-rounder continues to recover well, the medical staff believe additional rehabilitation is necessary before she returns to competitive action.

As a result, Sciver-Brunt has officially been ruled out of England's final Group B encounter against New Zealand.

England prioritising captain's fitness ahead of knockout stage

England have already secured qualification for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-finals, allowing the team management to take a cautious approach with their captain's recovery.

Nat Sciver-Brunt remains one of England's most influential players, contributing significantly with both bat and ball. Her availability for the knockout stages will therefore be a major focus over the coming days.

The latest update, however, suggests that England are optimistic about her rehabilitation, with the all-rounder already returning to batting practice as part of her recovery programme.

While the hosts will be without their skipper against New Zealand, they will hope the extra recovery time enables Sciver-Brunt to return at full fitness for the business end of the tournament, where England will be aiming to lift the Women's T20 World Cup trophy on home soil.
