The FIFA World Cup 2022 is dazzling everyone around the globe with some unexpected results. While the tournament started with a lot of off-the-field controversies but the Qatar World Cup has surely seen some of the young guns perform on one of the biggest stages in the world of football. But some of them have endured the pressure before too. While the past pressure may not be of the same intensity but it surely had a lot for 17-year-old boys.
The FIFA Under 17 World 2017 was organised in India and who knew that the up-and-about star Phil Foden will become an integral part of the senior side too? The England midfielder played a crucial role in England's under-17 World Cup triumph too. Phil Foden may be considered the biggest find from that batch but other players from different countries have been performing well for the senior side.
There are now seven football stars including Foden, who are currently playing for their country in the FIFA World Cup.
Phil Foden
Foden, who won the Golden Ball in Under-17 FIFA World Cup, won everyone's heart with his attacking display on the field. Midfielder Foden who plays for Manchester City in the Premier League has performed for the Guardiola side too and due to that, he earned the English callup. In the Under 17 World Cup, he had one assist and three goals while featuring in seven matches to his name. So far Foden has won 4 premier league titles with the Manchester giants.
Ferran Torres
Spain's winger Ferran Torres also set the stage on fire in the same tournament. Where Torres scored two goals in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup and assisted thrice during the tournament. So far the Barcelona player has scored two goals against Costa Rica in a 7-0 winning cause against Costa Rica. Ferran Torres is touted to be a big thing and his performances under Xavi have shown promising signs.
Josh Sargent
A dominant England ended the American journey in the quarterfinal match of the Under-17 FIFA World Cup. Although America's Josh Sargent showed what the US could do through his enthusiasm. He plays for the English league club Norwich City and was part of their 2021 journey where they finished bottom in the Premier League. While Norwich has been doing decently well in the Championship, The American forward has had a decent run so far. With the US already through to the round of 16, we will get to see more of the enthusiast Josh.
Timothy Weah
Another American who impressed in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup was Timothy Weah. He was also the highest goal scorer for America. Timothy is also the son of football legend and former Ballon D'or winner George Weah. While his father is the only African to win the Ballon D'or and Timothy plays for the US, the Weah legacy continues to prosper. Junior Weah also scored the opening goal for the USA.
Sergino Dest
America's superb run in the Qatar World Cup proves the kind of match winners they have at their disposal. While it is visible in this World Cup, the stepping stone was laid in the under-17 World Cup in India. After performing for the under-17 side, the American has prospered for both Barcelona and Milan. After the U17 World Cup, Sergione spent two seasons at Barcelona club and now plays for AC Milan. While America's journey in 2017 might have ended early but they would be hoping to go as far as they can in the 2022 World Cup.
Aurelien Tchouameni
France's young midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni showed glimpses of what he can achieve in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Thanks to those exploits Tchouaméni was included by the Spanish club Real Madrid. At Madrid, he continues to grow. This is the reason why Tchouaméni is now eager to create an impact at FIFA World Cup for France. In 2018 it was Mbappe who did well for the French national team, and they would be banking on this youngster to repeat the same.
Takefusa Kubo
Takefusa Kubo of Japan was also one of the star players in the Under-17 Football World Cup played in India. While he assisted two goals in this tournament, he also scored one goal. This is the reason that Kubo is now playing with the Japan team in the FIFA World Cup. It would be fair to say that the Japanese team is full of flair and it was evident in their performance against Germany. Kubo plays for Real Madrid in La Liga and has the potential to take Japan forward.
