A few days back Hyderabad FC defeated Mumbai City FC to register their first win of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22. And on December 8, Manolo Marquez’s boys secured three points against Bengaluru FC for the first time in ISL. Hyderabad’s 1-0 victory helped them to move into the top four on the points table.
Hyderabad and Bengaluru both wanted to get back to winning ways as they locked horns in ISL in Bambolim, Goa.
Hyderabad took the lead in the seventh minute of the game after their Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche’s shot took a big deflection and ended up in the bottom left corner.
After taking the lead, Hyderabad looked like scoring another goal. Bengaluru right-back Roshan Naorem received a yellow card in the 32nd minute of the first half after pulling down Hyderabad’s Akash Mishra. Midfielder Suresh Wangjam was the next player to be booked by the referee Harish Kundu.
First half turned out to be a frustrating one for Bengaluru. They struggled to do anything fruitful throughout the first 45 minutes.
In the 47th minute Bengaluru almost got the equaliser but thanks to custodian Laxmikant Kattimani, Hyderabad’s lead remained intact. Keeper Kattimani thwarted another Bengaluru chance in the second half. Cleiton Silva’s cross seemed dangerous but Kattimani dived and pushed the ball out.
Hyderabad FC's next match is against NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC are scheduled to take on 10th-placed FC Goa.
