The confirmation came on Saturday as Porto wrapped up a dominant campaign under the leadership of president André Villas-Boas and debutant head coach Francesco Farioli. The Dragons’ success marks a significant return to supremacy in Portuguese football.
Villas-Boas, who returned as club president, and Farioli, in his first season at the helm, were widely credited for orchestrating a disciplined and tactically sharp squad that maintained consistency throughout the campaign.
Their strategic vision and strong team cohesion proved decisive in fending off traditional rivals Benfica and Sporting CP. This victory adds another chapter to Porto’s illustrious history, reinforcing their status as one of Portugal’s “Big Three” clubs.
Fans and players celebrated the title with the traditional display of the championship trophy beneath the iconic dragon emblem at Estádio do Dragão, signaling a promising new era for the club.
