Real Madrid beat Olympiacos in their most recent encounter of the UEFA Champions League with a score of 4-3, in the absence of star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Kylian Mbappe was the star of the match as he netted four goals, a hat-trick within 30 minutes of the first half.
Over the past few months, there has been speculation that the relationship between the Los Blancos boss and Vinicius has not been good. This has reportedly resulted in the Brazilian being hesitant about renewing his contract with the club. The winger saw his late goal ruled out, and the head coach has something to say about this.
‘It hurts…’ Xabi Alonso’s honest reaction to Vinicius Jr after 4-3 UCL win
Alonso, the former midfielder, revealed that he was affected by Vinicius’ goal being ruled out and praised the Real Madrid star for his performance. The 41-year-old, after the game, said:
“I’m devastated that Vini’s goal was ruled out.”
Alonso, who was known for his exceptional passing range and long-distance shooting, admitted that he talked to the player after the game about the disallowed goal. He said:
“I spoke about it with him yesterday, about how much a goal would mean to him.”
Alonso, who began his career at Real Sociedad, went on to praise the 25-year-old Brazilian international and said:
"He had a great performance, two assists, he came very close to scoring, and I’m sure it’ll come soon. I’m very happy with Vini.”
While Mbappe has scored several goals for the Whites this season, Alonso stated that he was happy with Vinicius Jr’s game, calling it “incredible.” The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star said that they are all “united” amid the dressing room speculations.
Earlier, after the game, Mbappe had provided his support to the head coach, stating that everyone is united towards the same goal and winning titles. The France international also stated that things differ when changes in the project. He said that the staff members and the players have come together to communicate and move in one direction.
