Kylian Mbappe doesn't want to see Prestianni appear in the UEFA Champions League games. The French superstar has demanded a permanent UCL ban for the Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni, citing the lack of apology and clear evidence from himself and teammate Vinicius, amid Benfica's denial and UEFA's ongoing investigation.
The Brazilian has alleged racist abuse from Prestianni, who covered his mouth during the incident, prompting a ten-minute stoppage under anti-racism protocols. The incident echoes ongoing racism challenges in European football, with the Real Madrid midfielder facing repeated abuse since 2022. Meanwhile, Mbappe is not sitting back and wants strict action.
Mbappe calls for lifetime UCL ban on Prestianni after alleged racist abuse of Vinicius
During his post-match interaction, the Real Madrid striker addressed the situation to the media and demanded strong action against Prestianni. Mbappe said:
“Benfica are a top club, nothing against them… but Prestianni should NEVER play in UCL anymore.”
The 27-year-old continued:
“Did Prestianni apologize? Did you see his face? An apology? We’re not stupid, me and Vini… we saw what he said.”
Mbappe has stated that he heard Prestianni call Vinicius “Monkey” and it happened “five times.” Meanwhile, UEFA has since opened an investigation into the incident.
