International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah presented Lionel Messi with a ticket for the match between India and USA that will take place on February 7 in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The moment unfolded during the Delhi leg of Messi's  highly-anticipated GOAT tour.

India will take on USA at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai in their  opening fixture of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Shah formally invited Messi to formally witness the encounter. He also gifted Messi with an autographed cricket bat and India's T20 World Cup jerseys. In fact, the jerseys were presented to both Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul as well.

Messi's message to the fans

Messi also addressed the fans present at the Arun Jaitley stadium and remarked that he will make sure to return to India in the coming future.

"We carry all this love with us - we will definitely return - hopefully one day to play a match or on another occasion, but we will definitely return to visit India. Thank you very much. I want to thank everyone for the love and affection during these days in India - it was a truly beautiful experience for us," Messi said during the event.

Messi's GOAT tour concludes

The Delhi leg was the third and final leg of Messi's GOAT tour in India and the superstar footballer is set to leave the country soon. Though the tour did get off to a rocky start with the Kolkata leg, things got better in Hyderabad and Mumbai and the event came to an end in the capital of New Delhi. It was a memorable tour for the fans, who finally got the chance to witness their idol in India for the first time ever.
